The Harry Batchelor Award is presented annually for the best article printed in the magazine. This is in memory of the founder and first Chairman of Rugby Family History Group who died in 2003.
The first presentation was at the AGM in December 2005 for articles in Issues 60 to 62 (Autumn 2004 to Summer 2005). The winner was Ann Luntley, a long standing member of Rugby Family History Group and former Secretary. Her article called Encouraging Lateral Thinking can be read here.
The second winner, in December 2006, was John Chard for the third article in a series of three on Thomas the Lamplighter. It can be read here.
If you want to be considered for the next prize - submissions must be to the editor by the end of April.
Some earlier articles from copies of the Magazine include Harry's
Journey - a description of a wartime cycle trip, by the late Harry Batchelor, and A War
Memorial in St Matthews Church - research into a WW1 memorial by Peter Davies.
